Not skiing in San Candido

San Candido offers many opportunities also for those who do not want or cannot ski. The settlement of San Candido is one of the most ancient in the region and there are several historical and cultural sights, dating back to the Middle Age. The Cathedral (Stiftskirche) of Saint Candidus is a romanesque basilica, which is the most precious cultural heritage of the Eastern Alps region.

Other churches in town are the Saint Michael church (a baroque church built besides the Cahtedral, it has the other belltower visible from afar, giving San Candido its unique “skyline”), the Chapel of the Holy Sepulchre (built in the 17th by the local innkeeper after a pilgrimage to Jerusalem), and the Franciscan Monastery along the river. Also, you can enjoy yourself shopping through the town centre along Via Rainer or the Old Market street, and while you are at it you can pay a visit to the “Dolomythos” museum, exhibiting pictures and interesting facts about the Dolomites, a unique jewel among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

During the session breaks, other group activities like walking or sightseeing will be organized.
